A new 2,700 m² area facility consisting of a single pad ice rink with stadium seating, public locker rooms and showers, Junior ‘A’ locker room, coach’s office, community organization rooms, tack shop and administration support offices. The facility also includes a multi-purpose room and catering kitchen on the 2nd floor.
Engineering services included concept, design, construction document production and construction review of the mechanical & electrical systems.
The project was submitted for the Ontario Power Authority’s High Performance New Construction Incentive Program and achieved an annual summer demand savings of 42 kW.
Key energy efficiency measures include high efficiency heating boilers and domestic hot water heaters; energy recovery wheel in locker room make-up air unit; heat recovery from arena chiller plant that is used for rink slab heating, snow melting, domestic and zamboni water preheat; low-e arena ceilings and walls; and high efficiency lighting system.
