A new 9,450 m² area facility consisting of two (2) ice rinks with seating for 2,000, public locker rooms and showers, men’s and women’s dedicated change rooms for Hockey Canada, coaches offices, meeting rooms, tack shop, administration support offices, fitness/training facility, classrooms and association offices.
Engineering services included concept, design, construction document production and construction review of the mechanical & electrical systems.
The project was submitted for the Ontario Power Authority’s High Performance New Construction Incentive Program and achieved an annual summer demand savings of 67 kW.
Key energy efficiency measures include high efficiency heating and domestic water boilers; energy recovery wheel in change room make-up air unit, fitness room air handling unit, classroom air handling unit and storage room make-up air unit; heat recovery from arena chiller plant that is used for rink slab heating, snow melting, domestic and zamboni water preheat and preheat of change room make-up air unit and dehumidifier; demand control ventilation in office air handling units; low-e arena ceilings and walls; and high efficiency lighting systems with occupancy sensors.
